Tom Barron and Dan Posternock formed Barron & Posternock, LLP in August of 2002 with the goal
of providing South Jersey’s growing business and professional communities and local government with a high level of legal expertise, common sense and
the best values of the legal profession.
A member of the bar since 1975, Tom was a shareholder at Parker, McCay, P.C. and a partner at Ferg, Barron & Gillespie before forming his present firm.
He was a law clerk to the Hon. J. Gilbert Van Sciver, Jr. of the Superior Court in Mt. Holly and was an assistant Burlington County Prosecutor, where
he tried 25 felony cases in less than two years.
His current practice is almost exclusively litigation based and he handles a wide variety of cases for individuals, businesses, government entities and
insurance carriers.
He has litigated and tried cases involving allegations of professional negligence, the bad faith denial of insurance claims, consumer and business fraud
claims, intellectual property and restrictive covenant disputes, claims of violations of civil rights and employment discrimination, claims relating to
environmental hazards, commercial disputes and business tort claims, and probate controversies.
Additionally, he has extensive experience in insurance coverage litigation, automobile and trucking accident litigation, product liability matters, and
defective construction and property maintenance claims.
He has also served as counsel in class actions involving consumer fraud and claims under the Open Public Records Act. Finally, he regularly represents
lawyers, physicians and other professionals in disciplinary, licensure and employment matters and law enforcement officers in disciplinary, labor and
civil liability matters.
Because of his experience in a many areas of trial practice, he has developed a reputation as a lawyer who can successfully handle cases involving
unusual or complex issues, often on short notice.
He believes that it is important to quickly develop a case strategy based upon realistic client goals and aimed at the opposition’s weaknesses with the
aim of reducing the length and cost of litigation.
Tom formerly served as chairman of the Camden/Burlington Inn of Courts and as president of the Burlington County Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of
the Burlington County Bar Association.
He is a member of the American, New Jersey and Burlington County Bar Associations. He serves an arbitrator for New Jersey’s state courts.
He has lectured and served on continuing legal education programs dealing with attorney and police discipline proceedings, civil rights litigation and
civil practice procedures.
Tom obtained his law degree from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law in 1975, where he was the Chairman of the Trial Moot Court Program and a member
of the Corpus Juris Society. He is a graduate of Cornell University and Pemberton Township High School.
