Law Enforcement Tom Barron’s main focus in municipal litigation has been in the area of law enforcement. He has prosecuted and defended police disciplinary matters and the resulting civil litigation involving claims of deprivation of due process, equal protection, violations of First Amendment rights and the Conscientious Employee Protection Act. He has defended scores of officers in excessive force and false arrest cases. He has also defended sexual harassment and discrimination claims against municipal police departments, including cases that established new law. He also routinely conducts training sessions for public officials and employees on sexual and other forms of discrimination.
Public Education Dan Posternock’s government-related practice has been focused on the representation of local boards of education in defense of civil claims and as a school board solicitor. As a consequence of this work, Dan has a deep familiarity with New Jersey’s Tort Claim Act and the operation of joint insurance funds.
Municipalities
Our law firm has represented both employers and collective bargaining units in interest arbitration proceedings and has tried several interest arbitrations to conclusion for municipalities located in Burlington County. Tom Barron has extensive experience in handling grievances, arbitrations, unfair practice, scope of negotiation and representation proceedings before the Public Employment Relations Commission and its designees.
